Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan.
For many years, I have been involved in creating new forms from traditional Japanese textiles, working with materials such as kimono and obi that have been passed down through generations.
Through this journey, I encountered the philosophy of Mingei and gradually became deeply drawn to the beauty found in everyday objects, as well as the spirit of craftsmanship embedded within Japanese making culture.
Among these objects, I developed a particular fascination with fumidai — humble step stools that have quietly accompanied people’s daily lives for generations.
Today, I continue to collect and document them, exploring their history, form, and the traces of life they carry.

かつて、どの家庭にも当たり前のようにありながら、暮らしの中で静かに役目を果たしてきた 踏み台。
様々な形、材質の踏み台は、用の美が宿っていると感じています。
私は踏み台を民衆的工芸(民藝)の精神を体現する道具のひとつだと捉えています。
名もなき職人が日々の暮らしのために生み出した、実用的で素朴で美しい手仕事の日常品数々。

日本各地で使われてきた、古い踏み台たち。
その一台一台には、長い年月の中で刻まれた傷や擦れ、使い手の痕跡が静かに残されています。
どこで、誰が、どのような暮らしの中で使われていたのか。
役目を終えたその姿から、日本の暮らしやものづくりの美しさを探り、蒐集し、記録として残していきます。

京都に生まれ、京都で育つ。
これまで、日本に古くから伝わる着物や帯を新たなかたちへと生まれ変わらせる事業に取り組んできました。
その過程で民藝の思想に触れ、日々の暮らしの中で使われてきた道具に宿る美しさや、ものづくりに込められた精神性に深く惹かれるようになりました。
なかでも、長い年月を人々の暮らしとともにしてきた踏み台に強く関心を持ち、その歴史や造形を探りながら蒐集と記録を続けています。
